On March 4th, 2005, Equinox gave this meditation
to help us see the world with joy.
We would like for thee to get thyself very comfortable upon thy chair,
thy feet flat upon the ground, thy hands palm up on thy lap. We
would like thee to open thy hands wide, for when thy hands are open
wide thee can receive blessings. Thee will allow good things to
come to thee. When thy hands are open wide instead of closed,
then thee are a giver and a receiver and there is no lack.
Now we would like for thee to begin to breathe, very deeply. And
as thee release thy breath allow thyself to feel as though thee are
becoming lighter and lighter. Concentrating on breathing deeply,
allow thyself to feel lighter, thy open hands upon thy lap, feel
thyself growing lighter as thee descend within thyself one step at a
time, deeper and deeper within thyself allow thy soul to soar and
become lighter. Going deeper within, thy physical body feeling so
light, allow thyself to completely relax within this body, it is but
air and thee are warm and content.
And now visualize for us please a child, a child of about three, a
perfect, beautiful child of about three years of thy age. And see
this child within a beauteous walled garden. And the garden is
filled with all manner of wondrous things. Beautiful flowers and
plants, a safe, beautiful pond with fish, swing sets and all manner of
beautiful, wonderful, exciting, fun, joyous things.
And now sit back watch this child explore. Watch the child as it
tumbles and it rolls upon the grass, gets joy from a butterfly, feels
mud squish between the toes, sits in the pond and giggles as the fish
nibble at the toes, smell a flower and feel the softness of its petals,
run and jump and giggle, lay on its stomach on a swing and kick its
feet into the air and feel so free as though he was flying, jumping
into the air and laughing so hard it hurts.
Now allow thyself to become this child. Smell the fragrance of a
wondrous flower and feel how fabulous a feeling it is to smell this
scent for the very first time and touch those very soft petals.
Feel the grass underneath thy feet and allow thyself to roll and tumble
in it. Feel the cool water as thee sit in the pond and play with
the fish and allow that giggle, those bubbles of laughter, to seep out
of thy mouth for no reason other than it feels good. Sit by a
tree and watch a bug as it crawls and again feel the amazement of
seeing this thing for the very first time. Hold thy face up to
the sun and feel how joyous it is just to be.
Once upon a time this was thee. Once upon a time all this joy was
thine. Once upon a time thee could get immense joy from a flower
or a bug or water or grass or mud. Once upon a time being alive
was enough to make thee glad and joyous. This is still
thee. All of this is still reality. The only thing that has
changed is thy perception of it. This is a choice. Dost
thou want to be this child and live thy life in constant joy and
wonder, or dost thee choose to perceive the world as an adult?
We hope for thee blessings. We wish for thee peace. We know
that they are thine right now.
