Why is sexuality such a hot button for our society?
 

EQ:  Because it’s fun!  Haven’t thee noticed?  What are the things that the majority of entities upon Terra object to?

Things that are fun.

EQ:  Exactly!  Anything that brings absolute joy, anything that can unite people in a loving, close manner is forbidden, is it not so?  Anything that can allow a deep form of communication and create happiness instead of fear is tended to be looked down upon on Terra.

Why is that?

EQ:  It allows certain entities to control others.

In society in general, we have various taboos…

EQ:  Look at them.  What are they?

Sexuality happens to be one of them.  Lets look at smoking for example.  That is considered to be a vice and many people are being very puritanical about it.

EQ:  Yes.  And why dost thou think this is?  We will tell thee.  It is because many entities upon Terra assume that if they cannot have something, no one should.  There be a selfishness upon Terra.  Look at it.  If someone is very very successful and has many wondrous things, many other entities are very angry, is this not so, assuming that they cannot do this same thing.  If thee are in a loving relationship, and it be a different loving relationship from thy neighbor’s, how does that affect thy neighbor?  But if that loving relationship is between two men, what happens?

Suddenly, it’s wrong.

EQ:  If thee are of a religion that allows one to imbibe in alcohol, then it is perfectly ok until thy neighbor, who be of another religion that does not allow it, is in the room, is this not so?  And this is also true when entities can not eat certain foods.  Do they not begrudge those that can?  It is about condemning fun that thee can have and others can not.

Because they believe they can’t.

EQ:  Yes.

How about substances or activities that alter the consciousness?

EQ:  And, again, is this in any way harming the mass of people if it is done responsibly?

It is not always done responsibly.

EQ:  This is it.  And why does it not be done responsibly?  Because it is another way that Terrans act.  You tell me I can’t do something, so I will over-do it to show thee I can, is this not so?

Fun that includes something that does alter consciousness - fun can happen without it but it’s much harder to get to your own level where you can have fun without alcohol or something else.

EQ:  This is not true for everyone, but for those this is true for, we would question the illusion first of all, but we would not deny the ability to do so as long as this does not harm another, dost thou understand?  There is nothing that is bad upon Terra unless it is causing harm to another, and that harm not be because the other feels it’s bad, dost thou understand?  When we speak of causing harm - sexuality is a wondrous thing unless it is a forced sexuality on another that does not want this thing.

But what if younger people want to get involved with this?  Do we as adults have to just go with it just because it doesn’t really harm anybody?

EQ:  Again we will go back to the consciousness of the planet.  If there be a taboo, and the entirety of the planet feels something is bad, then harm is being done to the two who are doing it, because the pressure that will be applied upon them will create harm, dost thou understand?  There be a culture in the history of Terra that were called Polynesians.  In the Polynesian culture, sexuality was a part of everyday life continually, for many an age.  It was not harmful to anyone in that culture until such times as entities came and told them this was bad and began to punish them for this behavior, dost thou understand?

What about alcohol?

EQ:  Are there not cultures that use alcohol well?

Not that I know of.

EQ:  Oh there are.  Many cultures that use alcohol very very well and there is no, what thee would call, abuse.
 
I’m aware that alcohol is used for certain purposes but, for example, a lot of American young people - they just get wasted…

EQ:  This has nothing to do with the alcohol, it has to do with the taboo.  If there were no taboo, the allure would be gone.

You always stop drinking when you’re 21.  It happened to me.

EQ:  Upon Terra, it is a right of passage for the young to do anything their parents hate.  So, stop hating; stop putting the charge there.  Now, of course, thee have a problem, because it is not just thee that have this issue, it is all on Terra right now.  So, they will get the charge via others, dost thou understand?

So you’re just saying go ahead?

EQ:  No.  This is not what we’re saying.  We are saying, in the perfect Terra, there would be no taboos.  And if there would be no taboos, there would be no reason for taboos, dost thou understand?  But, this is not the perfect Terra.  Entities on Terra are not conscious.  Without consciousness, there is lack of responsibility, dost thou understand?  With lack of responsibility, then comes chaos.  And in response to chaos, beings make rules.  Some of which are stupid and only create more chaos.  Others of  which are necessary until the beings upon the planet learn to be responsible, dost thou understand?  Is this clear?

It sounds like you’re saying that learning to be responsible is what creates consciousness.

EQ:  No.  Consciousness allows thee to accept thy responsibilities.  But a good start is to begin to be responsible.

I was thinking about how people who quit smoking or drinking, and then they want everyone else to quit doing it too.

EQ:  And this is what we say.  It is because they are feeling a deprivation.  "If I can not do this, then thee should not be able to do this."

Is that kind of like a martyr?  Because they quit then you should too.

EQ:  Absolutely.  Now, we must say, again, that if thee are using something responsibly - entities that smoke that are conscious that they are around entities who do not, dost thou understand this thing - this is using it responsibly.

Last night I came home and caught my stepson smoking pot.  Even though I know it does not cause any damage, I can not say it is ok.  I understand that if he were older, he would make his own choices, but I live in a society where I have to take a responsibility and tell him he can not do this as long a he lives in my house.

EQ:  And this is absolutely acceptable.

And this is the dilemma.

EQ:  No, it should not be a dilemma.  Thee live in a society that has made rules, dost thou understand?  Those rules will endanger thee, will they not?  So, is it not logical, until this society negates those rules, that thee protect thyself?  We can understand if thee say to him, " This is not something that we disapprove of in principle.  It is, however, not something we can condone in the world as it is now.  Don’t do it.  Thee may not do it here."  This is completely different than what we speak of.  In thy planetary consciousness now, this is illegal.  In its illegality, thee can be harmed, at least financially if not in other ways, if he be caught doing this in thy home.  It is acceptable to protect thyself.

I firmly believe that whatever you get from it, you don’t have to smoke pot to get it.

EQ:  This is absolutely true.  And this is thy consciousness.  His consciousness, his illusion is he can not have it without this substance.  Can you change his consciousness?  We do not know.

His excuse is that he doesn’t smoke or drink or do bad things, he does good things, and if he does this, it’s not that bad.

EQ:  And as we said, no, it perhaps is not that bad, it is illegal.  We do not condone laws that make no sense, but we do say, if they exist, for thy own protection, thee must adhere.
